This week, we had the pleasure of welcoming Dee Frost, owner of Essential Calm, a holistic therapy and sports massage provider based in Bishop Middleham, to deliver a range of much-needed holistic therapy treatments for our team!
Dee set up a calm and tranquil space in one of our Complementary Therapy rooms in our Stockton Hospice, and spent the day providing our team with a range of relaxing, therapeutic treatments focused on wellbeing.
In 2019 Dee created Essential Calm due to the negative impact on her own mental health and wellbeing, having worked in a stressful role within child protection for the local authority for many years. Dee retrained and began her new journey as a holistic therapist.
In 2023 Dee’s husband, Alan, medically retired from the police having served 15 years as an officer. He was diagnosed with PTSD having dealt with traumatic events over a number of years. Following his retirement Alan retrained as a Sports Massage therapist and joined Essential Calm. The business went from one treatment room in their house to a brand new, two room Therapy Hub to help with the increasing demand. They’re offering more treatments than ever before to help with their client’s needs and wellbeing.
As well as delivering a wide range of therapeutic services to their clients, including skincare workshops, makeup masterclasses and wellbeing days, Dee is a Tropic Leader, supporting a team of women to help others feel confident in their skin with award-winning, eco-friendly skincare, promoting wellness and empowering others along the way.
Dee used their luxurious range of natural products during the treatments with our team, also providing a goody bag for each team member containing sample products bespoke to their skincare needs.
Our team were absolutely delighted with the facial, hand and arm treatments that Dee offered, as can be seen by their glowing feedback;
“Really nice experience, I have never felt so relaxed in my life.”
“Brilliant experience, really helped with my swollen eye and face, Dee did some lymphatic drainage and I came out able to open my eye with greatly reduced swelling.”
“Fantastic, really enjoyed, would do it again it helped me so much.”
“Amazing experience, felt so emotional due to the release of so much tension, thank you.”
“Absolutely amazing, very emotional, learnt so much about myself. Thank you so much.”
“Unbelievably relaxed afterwards. Great experience, really glad Dee came by! Feel great!”
“Lovely relaxing experience. Great advice, couldn’t ask for a more friendly or approachable lady to look after me. Thank you!”
We asked Dee about her experience at the Hospice, and what advice she would offer to someone seeking therapeutic treatment, “It was an absolute pleasure to spend the day with your staff, offering them some time to pause, relax and recharge. Seeing how much of a difference just a short treatment can make is exactly why I love what I do. Supporting people’s wellbeing is at the heart of Essential Calm, and I feel so privileged to have been able to help them feel better.
My advice to anyone is simple; make yourself a priority! Even taking a small amount of time each day for selfcare with a simple skincare routine can have a huge impact on how you feel physically and mentally, as well as improving your skin, boosting your confidence and helping you to relax and sleep better.
You can’t pour from an empty cup, so give yourself permission to slow down and look after your own wellbeing.”
We want to thank Dee once again, for donating her time and expertise and bringing such an impactful wellbeing focus to our team.
