Event Details

The Big Butterwick Bike Ride is a fantastic event, attracting riders from all over the North East.  The event, which is now in its 23rd year, was founded by local Brian Hutchinson, who wanted to give something back to the hospice that cared for his beloved sister, Christine, when she was terminally ill.

Since he first set it up, the Big Butterwick Bike Ride has attracted hundreds of cyclists for the 22-mile route and raised more than £110,000 for the hospice, which is based in Stockton and Bishop Auckland. It’s such a great atmosphere of people coming together to do something amazing as a group, and harness that enthusiasm and community spirit to make such an incredible difference.

Entry Fee: £10 early bird offer (£25 on the day)

We kindly ask you to raise a minimum sponsorship of £50, doing so will get you a Butterwick T-Shirt! The first 20 people who raise over £150 receive a dominos voucher!

Start point is Elm Tree Social Club. Cyclists between 14-17 years old must be accompanied by an adult.
