Help Us Make a Difference!
Do you enjoy getting out and about, meeting people and making a real difference in your local community? Have a couple of hours to spare each week and access to your own vehicle? We’d love to hear from you!
We’re looking for reliable, friendly and trustworthy volunteer drivers to help us collect and deliver our donation boxes from local shops, pubs, clubs and other supporters across Teesside and County Durham.
What does the role involve?
We have 33 collection routes, ranging from areas close to our Stockton hospice, including Stockton, Billingham and Norton, to further afield locations such as Hartlepool, Darlington, Bishop Auckland, Northallerton, Redcar and Saltburn.
Each week, we’ll identify the routes that are the highest priority and allocate these according to our collection needs. You’ll need to be happy to take on any of our routes, as the areas we visit will vary depending on where support is needed most.
Starting from our Stockton hospice on Middlefield Road, Stockton, TS19 8XN, you’ll be given your route in the morning and asked to return by 3.30pm with your collections.
Your support will include:
- Regularly visiting our collection points to empty and replace donation boxes.
- Collecting and delivering seasonal blind cards.
- Building friendly, lasting relationships with the shops, pubs, clubs and other supporters who help raise vital funds for our hospice.
It’s a great way to get out and about, meet new people and become part of a friendly team, while helping us maintain and grow the support of our local community.
The difference you’ll make
Our collection boxes and seasonal blind cards play an important part in raising funds for our services. With your help, these collections could generate up to £25,000 a year to support the vital care we provide to our local community.
Every visit, every collection and every relationship you help build contributes to making this possible.
What do you need?
To volunteer in this role, you’ll need to:
- Have your own reliable, roadworthy vehicle.
- Hold a current, full and clean driving licence.
- Ensure your vehicle insurance covers the type of use required for this role.
- Be reliable, trustworthy and happy to travel to different areas across Teesside and County Durham.
- Follow the relevant volunteering procedures and policies.
Reasonable transport costs will be reimbursed in line with our expenses policy. The current mileage rate is 45p per mile, covering fuel, wear and tear and any additional premiums for business insurance.
