Volunteer Finance Assistant(s)

Location: Butterwick Hospice, Middlefield Road, Stockton TS19 8XN

For 40 years, Butterwick Hospice has supported local people and communities across our regions of Teesside and County Durham. We provide holistic care for children and adults living with a life-limiting illness, as well as support for their families and loved ones. We believe in embracing life’s journey with compassion and care and aim to make every day the best it can be for each of our patients and their loved ones.

We are looking for :

Volunteer Finance Assistant (2 positions available – at our Stockton Hospice:)  

Role summary: 

Helping in our friendly, supportive, finance department, you will be assisting us with various tasks including processing receipts, invoices, mail, answering the telephone, filing and general administrative duties. Experience isn’t essential, as training will be provided, but if you have good basic numeracy, an eye for detail, some I.T. skills (or willingness to learn) are organised and a team player with a flexible approach, that would be fantastic.

Days/Shifts: 

It’s up to you how many hours you help us with – we normally ask for around 5 hours per shift, once or twice a week.

Office hours are:  9.30am – 4pm  Monday to Friday (it’s flexible, but our preference for help would be helping on a Monday, Wednesday or Friday )

Key tasks: 

  • Data Entry
  • Processing Kitchen (Lunch Income) receipts
  • Processing Royal Mail invoices, record and submit meter readings
  • Customer care/answering the phone, solving and dealing with queries.
  • Opening, sorting and distributing mail
  • Filing
  • Assisting with various ad hoc tasks and administrative duties as required

Skills and competencies

  • Good basic numeracy.
  • Good attention to detail.
  • Basic knowledge of or a willingness to learn IT skills.
  • Reliable with an organised approach to work.
  • Good team worker/good interpersonal skills.
  • Adaptability and flexibility.

Training:   

Training will be provided and you will be asked to complete some of our mandatory/essential training modules as part of you volunteering time with us.

References and identity documents may also be requested from you as part of the recruitment process.
