Maintenance Assistant
Job Description:
Butterwick Hospice are looking for a confident, competent friendly people to work as a member of the Maintenance Team.
As a key player you’ll take pride in upholding Hospice standards. You’ll be responsible for essential tasks covering the overall fabric of the building, regular checks on the electrical and water systems, building security and completing all relevant health and safety checks.
A knowledge of repairs and a good standard of record keeping is required. Must have the ability to carry out minor repairs.
The appointed person will be responsible for general maintenance ground maintenance, occasionally working with our volunteers.
The role will include: manual handing, working at heights
You will be required to use a variety of basic maintenance and diagnostic equipment to fulfil the requirements of the role, maintaining accurate records within our existing job planning and management systems.
A current valid driving licence is required to enable the post holder to carry out the duties of this post across local Butterwick Hospice sites.
Person Specification
Knowledge and Experience
Essential- Ability to prioritise work appropriately and within deadlines whilst maintaining high standards and quality of work.
Essential – Experience within at least one of the following: Joinery, Plumbing, Plastering, Painting & Decorating etc.
Desirable- Knowledge and experience in healthcare estates environment.
Skills and Abilities
Essential- · Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
Essential-Good time management skills with the ability to prioritise work
Essential-Good interpersonal skills with the ability to work as part of a team.
Essential-Self-motivator and able to work alone as well as a team player, adaptable and able to learn quickly.
Essential-Willingness to adapt and learn new skills.
Desirable- Ability to work under pressure in a busy working environment and able to multi task.
Job Type: Part-time
Part-time hours: 25 per week, to alternate between morning and afternoon shifts.
Salary: £11.73 per hour

- Morning shift: 8am-1pm, Monday to Friday, over five days
- Afternoon shift: 12pm – 5pm, Monday to Friday, over five days.
